An Officiant is a person who is legally able to perform a marriage ceremony under the laws of the State in which the couple is marrying. In the state of Florida, you must be Ordained in order to provide this service.
The Officiant is registered with Hillsborough County and surrounding counties to also provide a PreMarital Course. Couples must still obtain their Marriage License at a courthouse prior to the wedding day, and bring the license with them to the ceremony along with their rings!
Is the Officiant responsible for obtaining our Marriage License?
The couple is solely responsible for obtaining their Marriage License at a courthouse in their area.
The couple is solely responsible for obtaining information concerning their Marriage License directly with the courthouse regarding legalities, prices, fees, and procedures. After obtaining a Marriage License you must present that to the Officiant on your wedding day. Please be diligent and contact the Courthouse for any questions you may have on obtaining your Marriage License and do so with enough time to have the process run smoothly for you at 60 days prior to wedding date.
What is a Marriage License by Mail?
If you would rather not go in person to the courthouse and instead receive your marriage license by mail, this is done 30-60 days prior to wedding date and is an additional charge to any of our services. We require a few simple forms to be filled out and notarized by couple for this process. All forms must be completed in a timely manner in order to have your marriage license ready on your wedding day. We are registered providers for the Marriage License by Mail. This service is available to ALL couples, whether a Florida resident or out of state residents. Take advantage of this time saving service available to all couples! The fee for this is 200.00
What is a PreMarital Course?
A PreMarital Course in Florida is an on line four hour educational course provided for couples who are Florida residents. Upon taking this course provided by the Officiant, there is no 3 day waiting period for Florida residents necessary to be able to legally marry. You will receive a certificate upon completion from the Officiant and a discount of 32.50 when applying for your marriage license. The Officiant is a registered provider of this course and the fee is 25.00. The PreMarital Course does not apply to out of state residents.
How do you obtain a Marriage License in person?
If you prefer to go in person to a local courthouse here is the contact information for the general areas we service. There are many satellite locations as well and these offices will point you in the right direction. Please keep in mind that as long as you obtain a marriage license in the state of Florida you can marry in any city in Florida, it does not have to be the same county. Both must provide photo IDs and Social Security Numbers and apply together. Out of state residents cannot use a Marriage License from their state. To marry in Florida, you must obtain a Marriage License within the state of Florida. The current fee for a Marriage License is 86.00. There is a 3 day waiting period for Florida residents before you can use your license. There is a PreMarital Course you can take to avoid this delay and we can provide this service for you as well so you are able to receive a 32.50 discount on Marriage License. There is no waiting period for out of state residents.
